Feathers and a Show

I bought some feathers for my hair. And it took a great deal of courage on my part to wear them.

I put them in Sunday before church and by the time I had driven the 3.67 minutes it takes to get there, I was like the Cowardly Lion. Just throwing it out there, but it could of been my sister's comment about me fitting in more at the earlier service (read: the one with mostly old people people). And then I remembered how the sales lady told me it looked like something you wear to a funeral. All this going through my mind in 3.67 minutes. And in those minutes, we had time to snap a picture. And then I took them out. Just like that, my courage had failed me.Fast forward to last night. My mom, sister, and me went to see Legally Blonde at the Civic Center. It was such a cool show, really funny, and we had amazing seats. I've seen a couple shows before, and it was by far my favorite. As I was getting ready, I remembered those feathers, but this time I was brave. I wore them with pride. And I was happy.
(Sadly, the best picture of the night doesn't exhibit the feathers... trust me, they were there.)

So Good

I recently discovered Nutella. I kind of wished I hadn't. I could consume it by the spoonful... and spoonful... and spoonful. Until. It's. Gone.

Happy Valentine's Day

I'm sad that my "things I love" list has come to a close as Valentine's Day is nearly over. Honestly, it was hard narrowing down the list to five things -- some very superficial, some not as much. Most of them not surprising to those who know me. Obviously, some of the "givens" were left off -- Jesus, my friends, the United States... and then some of the cliche girl things -- flowers (mostly orchids), pedicures, juicy jewelry, and red velvet cupcakes. I LOVE going to new cities, reading a good book, decorating my apartment, wearing a vintage apron, the 4th of July and New Year's Eve, drinking a coke zero, going to the movie theater, a good birthday, a made bed, the sunshine, People Style Watch, stocking hats, giving a good gift, and dreaming of being an events planner. All those things are better when shared with people -- the people that you love.

This year I resolved to love more... I'm getting there.

Day for Lovers ♥

Who says you have to have a lover to celebrate Valentine's Day? Not this girl. In honor of Saturday's holiday, I'm posting things I love... I present to you the start of my very (very) superficial list. Please don't judge me.

♥ The music, the accent, the scruffy face, the beautiful wife... Love it all. ♥

Stimulating Contraceptives

Why does it annoy me that the proposed stimulus package contains money for contraceptives and family planning? Some estimate the total to be over 200 million dollars. It's kind of how I feel about the free condoms in the locker room at my work... because apparently medical students aren't mature enough to abstain (yes, 27 year old virgins do exist), buy their own (who would of thought?), or wait until they get home (have some self-control, people). But hey, what do I know???

Stay-at-Home Dog Mom and a Heatwave

I've been meaning to post since Monday, but thought that if I didn't talk about it maybe I could extend my time off. I can't think of a better way to spend the past two weeks. Maybe that's not true, but it really was fabulous. Here's what I've been up to (as embarrassing as it may be) further solidifying my dreams of becoming a stay-at-home dog mom:

9:30 - Wake up after a lovely slumber on my new memory foam mattress; Check email, facebook, blogs, window shop

10:00 - Watch Kathie Lee and Hoda on the Today Show; Put on a clean pair of pajamas

11:00 - Rachel Ray

12:00 - Read a good book or Glamour magazine; More internet time

3:00 - My new favorite, Ellen

4:00 - Any show except Oprah -- not a fan. Usually an MTV re-run. Maybe Jon and Kate Plus 8

5:00 - Little Sister comes home; makes/picks up dinner; does dishes and laundry

6:00 - More TV :)

10:00 - Bed time

Mix in quality time with some of my very favorite people -- Shannon, Megan, girls from work... can't go wrong.
And then there's this window... across from my bed, that I would open the curtains and blinds and the sunshine would pour in to my little room. And it felt good. And it warmed my soul. Just what the doctor ordered.

Speaking of sunshine, we're having a bit of a heatwave (at least it sure feels that way). Check out the 7 day forecast. To celebrate, I had popsicles for lunch. Oh yeah.
