green thumb

I do not have a green thumb. I've tried, and tried.. and then, I tried somemore. My best friend, Shannon, yes... me, not so much. I like the idea of being a gardner, but honestly it's a lot of work. Work that I'm not convinced I want to put forth. It's kind of like how I feel about running, but that's a whole nother post.

I bought an orchid a couple months ago. They're my favorite, and it was on sale, so I thought I'd give it a try... again. When I bought it it had beautiful blooms, and looked so nice on my desk. Within a week, the leaves were wilted, the blooms were gone, and it was looking a little brown. I was ready to throw it away. I ended up shoving it on an associate dean who has skills to envy. I all, but forgot about that dumb orchid. It's been in there for 2 months now, being nursed back to health by the aforementioned dean. The other day she told me my orchid was blooming. What orchid? Oh, the one that I killed. You still have that thing? To my surprise, it really was blooming, and I picked up that thing and adopted it as my own again. I suppose I'm a bit of a fair-weather flower lover, and something tells me that she got the raw end of the deal. Rest assured Doc, it's only a matter of time before it finds a home in your office once again.
